John Rustad was re-elected to represent the riding of Nechako Lakes on May 14, 2013, and was appointed Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation on June 10, 2013.
In May 2017, John Rustad was re-elected to represent the riding of Nechako Lakes. He has served as British Columbia’s Minister of Aboriginal Relations and Reconciliation since 2013.
First elected in 2005, John has served as Parliamentary Secretary for Forestry as well as on a variety of committees.
Prior to his election as MLA, John worked in the forest industry for more than 20 years. In 1995, he formed Western Geographic Information Systems Inc., a consulting service to the forest industry. Minister Rustad was also elected as a school trustee in 2002, where he worked on a variety of innovative projects.
Born and raised in Prince George, John has lived in northern B.C. all his life. When time permits, he enjoys golfing and watersports. In 2009, he and his wife Kim moved to Cluculz Lake, where they enjoy the quiet beauty of rural living, as well as social calls from family and friends.
